Ice Ice Baby – RC Berlin season finale
When the US rapper Vanilla Ice released the song Ice ice baby When he released his first single, no one could have guessed that he would launch a rap song that would become the first ever to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100. 34 years later, the RC Berlin landed a hit just as big with its members with its traditional technology workshop.
At the Home Dry Ice Energy At the Classic Remise in Berlin Moabit, the numerous members who attended not only learned about the theoretical aspects of dry ice, but were even able to try it out for themselves on a pagoda. Dry Ice Energy takes you on an exciting day.

A relaxed introduction to an exciting workshop
First, regional manager Sven Seehaver warmly welcomed the already excited members with coffee and croissants before leaving the stage to us as hosts. Sheila Cintuglu is with Dry Ice Energy As a brand manager, she is responsible for communications, among other things. And who would be better suited than Sheila to introduce the company to the public?
Sheila made it clear at the beginning that Dry Ice Energy does not offer the service of dry ice blasting at all. Instead, the company is directly the manufacturer of the necessary dry ice blasting equipmentAnyone who expected to hear a long monologue about the advantages of dry ice blasting and the machines required for it from Dry Ice Energy to hear something that would almost have a soporific effect was pleasantly surprised.
Rather, it was important to Sheila that the product speak for itself. But what is dry ice, anyway, and what can you do with it?
What is dry ice? Dry Ice Energy clear up!
Explaining this was the responsibility of Christian Dewald, a technician at Dry Ice Energy First, he simply placed a Styrofoam box in the middle of the participants. Their necks grew longer and longer, as everyone wanted to see what was in the mysterious box. But when Christian opened it, only white mist rose. He reached into the box with a glove and pulled out white pellets. Dry ice!
The participants reverently examined the pellets steaming in their palms, like villagers at a market in the Middle Ages. In our case, these were solid carbon dioxide (CO2). Under normal pressure, dry ice is no warmer than −78,4°C. It does not melt when heated, but instead converts directly into gaseous carbon dioxide. This process is called sublimation.
The dry ice pellets from Dry Ice Energy are available in two sizes, 1,5 and 3,0 mm. They are manufactured using a special process under high pressure. This gives them a particularly high density and strength, making them durable, which is important for transport. Furthermore, they offer increased cleaning performance in the Vehicle preparation.
Time to test: The participants in action
Cleaning performance is the key word and the reason for the workshop. Christian filled a small scoop with dry ice and poured it into a small machine that bears a striking resemblance to a vacuum cleaner. He connected a compressed air hose to the "vacuum cleaner." He had attached a kind of gun to the other end.
This is the blast gun, to which various nozzles can be attached. After putting on safety goggles, Christian pointed the blast gun at the engine compartment and pulled the trigger. The compressed air fired the dry ice onto a dirty metal part. Where the dry ice hit, sparkling clean metal was visible again within seconds.
The dry ice has blasted away the layer of grease, oil, and dirt. The removed dirt falls frozen in the form of small pellets to the floor, from which it can easily be swept up later.
Cleaning that convinces the participants
After Christian finished his short demonstration, the first people crowded around the dry ice machine. Once they had put on gloves and safety goggles, there was no stopping them. One after the other, they tried out the dirty engine compartment. Whether metal, plastic, or rubber, the technology was tested on every possible spot in the engine compartment.
After a short time, the engine compartment shone after the Car cleaning without water Almost like new. Where previously it was said behind closed doors, "I wouldn't let my pagoda be used as a guinea pig," the response was suddenly, "I'd like to have that done for my pagoda, too."
And the engine compartment wasn't the end of the day. The interior was a success story. From the rubber mats to the formerly gray seat belts and even the instruments, the car was thoroughly cleaned. Only the leather-covered seats weren't treated with dry ice: leather doesn't like dry ice as much as we do. Last but not least, even the soft top was given a thorough cleaning.
An insightful day with Dry Ice Energy is coming to an end
At the end of the day, the workshop participants all agreed that dry ice blasting is a quick and efficient method to restore the shine of their classic car. The practical workshop by Dry Ice Energy convinced the participants of the potential of dry ice blasting technology and demonstrated a pioneering solution. Or, to quote Vanilla Ice, "Yo, VIP, let's kick it!"
