How undercarriage treatment works
When cleaning the undercarriage with dry ice blasting, solid CO₂ in the form of small pellets is propelled at high speed onto the surface to be cleaned. The pellets sublimate on impact — meaning they transition directly from the solid into the gaseous state.
This creates a miniature "cold shock" that reliably detaches dirt, grease, oil residues, underbody protection, bitumen and even rust scales from the material — without abrasion and without residues.
Why is dry ice blasting so effective on undercarriages?
Compared with classic cleaning methods such as sandblasting, high-pressure cleaning or chemical solutions, cleaning the vehicle undercarriage with ice blasting offers a whole series of advantages:
- Non-abrasive — no mechanical material removal, ideal for sensitive surfaces
- Dry and residue-free — no water, no chemicals, no sludge disposal
- Environmentally friendly — CO₂ as a by-product of industrial processes, no additional emissions
- Efficient — fast cleaning processes without laborious finishing
- Gentle on underbody protection — also for removing brittle or aged coatings
Areas of application in detail
Cleaning the undercarriage with dry ice blasting is suitable for a wide range of applications in professional vehicle care and maintenance. Workshops and vehicle detailers benefit from a clean result without lengthy follow-up cleaning or environmental requirements.
Cleaning in practice — how our devices work
The procedure for cleaning the undercarriage with dry ice blasting is straightforward and can be easily integrated into everyday workshop operations.
- Jack up the vehicle or position it on a lift
- Coarse cleaning (optional) with compressed air or broom
- Connect the dry ice blasting unit — provide compressed air, power supply and pellets
- Blast targeted areas of contamination
- Check the result — depending on the degree of contamination, several passes are possible
Our cleaning devices
We offer six different models: Champ Basic, Champ, Champ Turbo, Champ Vario, Champ Turbo Pro and Champ Ultra. All devices were developed for professional use and offer different power levels and blasting intensities depending on the model — ideal for a wide variety of requirements in the workshop, in vehicle detailing or in classic-car restoration.
Depending on the model, the cleaning process takes between 30 and 90 minutes. A complete undercarriage is usually freed of oil and dirt in a single pass.
