Storage & safety
Storing dry ice safely.
Dry ice is at -78.5 °C and sublimates directly from solid to gas. Follow these rules:
- Never store in airtight containers — CO₂ pressure buildup
- Ventilate rooms — CO₂ is heavier than air and pools on the floor
- Avoid skin contact — wear gloves and goggles
- Sublimation rate: 3-10 % per day inside insulated boxes
